Register for Courses at These Times

You may register for courses in Summer Sessions I and II during the following time periods:

• Session I: February 24–May 23 
• Session II: February 24–July 7

The registration system is available from 7 am–11 pm daily.

Finding the Courses You'll Register for on MyRIC

While the undergraduate and graduate class schedules give you a sense of what is being offered and when, our MyRIC portal will provide you with course descriptions to help you decide what to register for. As someone who has never attended Rhode Island College before, you will need to create an account to obtain a user ID and password in order to register for classes, but you can view our summer courses and descriptions without an account right now. 

Call/Class Numbers

Call/class numbers are the five-digit number preceding each course and are very important for these reasons:

• this is the number you will need in order to register for, add, or drop a given course
• clicking on a call number will provide you with the course description

Also, if a course has multiple sections, please note the unique section number. You may not register for more than one section of a course.

Departmental Consent

Some courses require departmental consent to enroll. These courses are identified in Class Search on the Class Details page with the phrase "Department Consent Required." A course may have this designation for reasons such as: minimum grade point average, earned credits, major, or permission of department chair. Contact the offering department for registration information.

College Catalog 

The college catalog contains degree requirements for all undergraduate programs of study, rules that affect students, descriptions of courses, and a list of the faculty and administration of the college. You must know the rules given in the catalog for your degree program. The catalog is the document of authority for all students. 

Registering for Summer Classes on MyRIC

1. You will be registering for summer classes on our MyRIC portal. As someone who has never attended Rhode Island College before, you will need to create an account to obtain a user ID and password in order to register for classes. When creating the account, you will be asked to provide a social security number (SSN). Please email the Records Office at records@yutb.net if this prevents you from completing the form.

   Create your MyRIC Account

   Once you create an account you will receive confirmation and instructions about your MyRIC user ID and password.

   Please Note: If an existing account is found for you, you will be directed to request reactivation of your account through the Records Office. (Email the Records Office at records@yutb.net, if needed.)

2. Go to MyRIC and access your account by entering your user ID and password (all lowercase) that you received via email. If you forgot your ID or password or have trouble accessing your account, please email the Help Desk at helpdesk@yutb.net. If you have questions about the registration process, please call the Records Office at 401-456-8213. Please Note: Students with disability concerns, who require assistance with accessing online registration, should call the Center for Disability Access at 401-456-2776.
3. To begin the registration process navigate from the RIC Announcements page to the RIC Student Homepage (using the top, left drop-down menu). Then click on Student Center > select Enroll from the left-hand navigation
4. Please be sure to avoid course meeting times that conflict with each other

Please note: You may begin registering for Session I courses starting on February 24.

Summer Session I

• May 19: classes begin and add/drop period begins
• May 23: add/drop period ends
• June 6: last day to withdraw from courses with instructor position

Summer Session II

• June 30: classes begin and add/drop period begins
• July 7: add/drop period ends
• July 18: last day to withdraw from courses with instructor position

Undergraduate Course Load

The maximum course load during the summer is 8 credit hours per summer session. Any exception to the maximum course load policy must be approved in writing by the appropriate academic dean. 

Graduate Course Load

The maximum course load during the summer is 8 credit hours per summer session. Students holding appointments as graduate assistance or graduate research assistants are considered full-time students, but must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 credits each semester or 6 credits in any one summer session.

Summer financial aid may be available. Eligibility will be determined by the 24-25 FAFSA. If you have not yet completed the 24-25 FAFSA, you must do so no later than June 15, 2025. Email the Office of Financial Aid at financialaid@yutb.net with questions.
